David Pinto

I am full a time Jamaican artist.  I moved home from NYC to establish my pottery studio on the Good Hope Estate, in the hills above Falmouth.  I teach weekly classes and have developed an ongoing international workshop program.

Pinto creates wall art installations and sculpture in addition to a slab built production of altered functional tableware and one-of-a-kind functional vessels, basins and sconces.  His most recent sculptural work celebrates the sensual female body.  Focusing on the torso.  He abstracts these intersecting curves into a sculptural vessel series, finishing them in his custom glazes;  ranging from semi matte to shimmery black, or blushed bronze, true matte, and a shiny wispy white.

When you do what you love, love is what you do.  Each vessel I make is infused with my creative spirit.  This life force tells a story of my journey through clay and elevates your “Everyday” experience of a simple cup of coffee or enjoying my sculpture.  “My work embodies energy and movement, I find beauty in the organic richness of form and feel.  My joy in the process comes from making a piece perfectly, emphasizing the asymmetry, embracing my touch, and celebrating the uniqueness in each piece.”
