In December of 2012, The Mutual Gallery and Art Centre in Kingston presented “New Growth”, a solo exhibition of David’s work. The exhibition represented three bodies of Pinto’s current work.
The first series included New Growth 1, ceramic sculptures on reclaimed wood plinths that are each about 6 feet tall. New Growth explores the notions of fertility, fertilization and creation. Human forms and plant reproduction come together to form life-sized sensual art objects.
The second series is Soul Serving, large three-legged vessels. Each piece is 16-18 inches in diameter. Using a soda fired stoneware technique, Pinto has created a series of pieces that can be viewed as both sculpture and functional pottery.
